Tracy Paul
Original and Limited edition mixed media artwork
Tracy Paul's mixed media techniques start with pen and layers of coloured inks. Adding gold leaf, metallic inks, aquarelle pencils, glitter and gum arabic resulting in tiny jewel-like works. In a search to find a symbol of woman's sexuality, Tracy Paul began to work with images of corsets and then bras and then tutu dresses. The little dresses have become her favourite format for telling stories, be they of relationships, dreams, partners, everyday events, hopes and desires. Another favourite theme is that of things "African", having been born and brought up in Africa. Working on safari in Malawi, Zambia and Botswana developed a great love for the colours and textures of the African bush. Tracy's current focus is private commissions including 'his and her' illustrations celebrating couples' weddings and anniversaries or commissions made with love for babies and children. Other commissioned work includes original creations of shoes, bags, bras, knickers, tea cups, teapots or theatre sets - each time capturing the essence and of the owner through personalised symbols that complete the story.
